Personal Development: Blogging Is a Way to Find a Voice

Reasons to Write Every Day

Everything we write has an audience. Even a private journal has the author to read it. The more we write, the more we get experience with words, learning what they mean in varied contexts. As we look back over what we have written, we listen, consider, and question its power and impact.

Blogging has an audience that responds and reacts. The comments let us know whether the message we send is received fully and intact. By blogging often we develop a voice that is consistent and more natural. As we learn our personal writing habits, we gain confidence that powers our message forward. As we listen to our readers, we more finely tune our message to communicate with them.

Blogging gets us closer to a clearer voice that people understand.

  1. Blogging has done this and more for me, leading me to look up one day after several years and realize the honing of voice and self that I had truly been doing.

  2. You have put into words what goes around in my head. I have journaled for 20 years and I’m the only one that reads them but I go back often and read, and gain insight into myself, my current and former selves, and continue to grow now from reading what I wrote then. Thank you for your words.

  3. Hi Amanda!
Though I was writing for some 20 years before my first blog post, my voice grew and changed when I got here. The experience of writing and speaking about ideas daily for three years has done same for me. :)

  4. Hi Leah!
Thank you, too. It’s feedback like yours that has moved me. I learn more every time I read a comment from someone who has read what I wrote. :)

  5. Hi Liz,

Seems like I’ve been writing forever now but in the last few years (as I pass into the 2nd 50 years of my life) so much has happened and changed, my outlook has changed with it and so has my writing. But I keep on and I’m still enjoying it, never seem to stay in one place too long as far as subjects go but that reflects my life in more ways than one. Funny how my life has finally settled down at last but my writing seems to have become even more varied because of it.

  6. Hi Kirk,
Finding my voice. I think that each time I write I get a little closer to hearing what It sounds like. It’s nice to feel it ring true.

Your writing is deep, rich and real, just as you. :)
