Get Sticky So The Folks Who Want to Love You CAN

If you want a sticky product or service, don’t stop with a “gooshy, abstract brand.” Be the glue that holds like-minded folks together around something they care about.

The Who, What, and Why
Three questions are foundational to sticky business. As soon as an idea strikes, pull out the Who, What, and Why. They lay the concrete commitment on which the offer will be defined, and on which customers will decide.

  • Who is the customer? Translation: Is this for me?
  • What am I supposed to do with what you offer? Translation: Do I need it?
  • Why should I care about it? Translation: Is it useful? Is it fun? Do I want it in my life?

When a product or service is made or me, it’s love at first sight. If you have to tell me the answers to Who, What, and Why . . . well, you can’t always be there.

Think about it — it’s how to get someone to fall in love. Be clear about who you are, what you offer, and why they’ll look smart to choose you.

    Hi Liz

    Three months ago it was my time again to do the dreaded 10-minute presentation at BNI – shiver! (When you’re a member for over 5 years, the topics are hard to find) After discussing this with my partner he said: talk about www: Who, Why and What
    (With a twist on the Who: talked about who WE were – our experience, mentality and back-ground).
    Went down a teat – even with the PowerPoint Presentation I had made for it.

    So, yes. I recommend strongly to focus your marketing and/or dealing with clients on www. (and you have to do the same on the real www. ;-) )

    What a great hook to hand the Who, What, and Why on www. !!! If you don’t I’m going to borrow that for a presentation that I have coming up soon. It will be perfect to introduce the topics of “sticky,” community, and relationships. YEA!! You’re just the who, the what and the why I love the Internet! :)
