We sure don't vision plans for a shopping list, but the truth is that most projects get going without overall agreement on what "good work"" will look like. We had a saying in educational publshing . . . "the program is over. Time to make the prototype." Somehow we all (me too) think we've got the idea in our head and that's enough. We only find later that the idea in our head was sketchy and unfinished at best. Writing and planning make us think things through in order to articulate them. So does this make me a surrogate mentor? :) I think you’ve got a point, Karin.
