SEO Is Important, But Only One Piece

Liz Strauss | Uniquely Liz | Sunday, March 25th, 2007

Listen carefully.

Links break.

Businesses close.

There is no such thing as job security.

Deep relationships move from job to job, blog to blog.

We have one chance at life.
Why bring only part of ourselves
to any part of our life?

SOBCon 07: Another Chance at the $250 Registration

Liz Strauss | Uniquely Liz | Saturday, March 17th, 2007

People Have Asked

Some stellar individuals have come to me, saying that they missed the SOBCon 07 $250 registration fee. Each of them asked whether they might have a second chance.

I spoke to each person myself. I told them that real people are investing our hearts, our time, and our own money in presenting SOBCon 07 because we know that a blogging conference can be a remarkable experience. We know because we’ve built a conference that reflects the values of a successful and outstanding blog — unique, content-rich presentiations and authentic relationships.

Then I asked to hear their stories. Every blogger had passion and so much insight and experience to bring to the conference.

I went back to the committee. We agreed to help those bloggers. They belonged at SOBCon 07. We owed it toeveryone who is attending. The best attendees make the best conference.

Another Chance at the $250 Fee

So, here’s another chance at the $250 registration fee. If you think that you belong at the SOBCon 07 conference, it’s also only fair that you should have to do what they did. . . .

Persuade ME

Here’s how to do that
1. Write a unique blog post explaining why SOBCon 07 will be even more outstanding with you attending — be honest, be clever, be creative, be unique, be an outstanding blogger. Use words, use pictures, tell a story, write a report, make a list. — Persuade Me.

2. Link back to the SOBCon 07 blog, so I’ll know that you have a post for me to see.

3. I’ll come to your post and leave comment. In the comment, I’ll tell you what to do next. . . . if you persuaded me.

There is only one rule — be nice.

If there’s any part of this that you don’t understand, shhhh, you can email me at lizsun2@gmail.com.

Everyone knows I have high standards, but I’m not stingy.
$100 off! Get creative and persuade me.

Time Management: Teams Do the Fastest Thing First

Liz Strauss | Business Thinking, Perfect Virtual Manager, Uniquely Liz | Thursday, March 15th, 2007

PERFECT VIRTUAL MANAGER

This is going to sound counterintuitive, but when you work in a team, it’s most productive to organize your work according to how long a task takes.

List projects according to time frames of 0-15 minutes, 15-30 minutes, 30-60 minutes and over an hour. Separate each list again into those that are yours alone and those that you will pass on for someone else to continue the work.

When you attack your day, look first at the projects that take less than 15 minutes and will be continued by someone else. Try to get all or many of those off your desk, because then when you dig on longer tasks the folks who are next on the tasks you just did can be working on them while you’re working on the longer task.

If you start a day with no tasks that will be passed on, choose one or two 15 minute tasks only to start. Those two short tasks will get you in the working mode and quickly to the sense of accomplishment. Then move on to your most difficult task. Having that sense of accomplishment is the best way to begin a difficult task.

How to make a difficult task less overwhelming will be what we talk about next week. :)
