In Doing One Thing Well
View CommentsDefining a brand is not something we have the luxury of doing for ourselves. Our customers, our readers do that for us. If we are strong of purpose, we make a promise. We write it in a branding statement. We put that big idea in all we do. If we’re determined, we live our big idea.
What we live is our brand.
What we live is the brand that customers assign us. It’s basic that actions speak louder than words or promises.
So why write a branding statement?
To identify one thing we do well makes it clear to ourselves and to our customers what we want to be known for — the unique and specific value we offer.
If we can persuade and prove that one thing is real, consistent, and uniquely our own, folks will look to us to that and to do many others.
One thing. One unique thing. One unique specific thing that we execute beyond compare proves our standard of excellence at all things that we do.
