Does Your Blog Code Slow Down the Googlebots?
View CommentsBeauty Is Only Skin Deep
So many developers are making themes for blogging platforms, it’s not hard to find a ready-made theme design that most folks have never seen. At Successful-Blog there are links to thousands of themes on the New Blogger Page.
The problem is that it is easy to fall in love with a theme that was made by a developer we don’t know. Folks at a wide range of experience levels are developing themes. Many such themes are available for download with little support. Even themes offered by the blogging platforms come from more than one source. None tell the experience of the developer. Unless we can find that information, we are left with two choices:
- Trust that the developer has the experience to write search-engine friendly code.
- Verify that our code is lean and search-friendly.
We talk about why blogs are faster ranking than websites. But do we take that thought further to question whether the code is as search-engine friendly as it might be? How many of our themes were written by designers who have little experience with programming?
How often do we tweak our stylesheets and make them more complicated? Is it time that your blog had a code check up?
If want your code checked and simplified to be sure that you’re working on a lean, mean blogging machine, E-mail me at lizsun2@gmail.com. Or call me at 773 619 0371
An hour of cleaning your code, could make an amazing difference in how your blog performs for readers and where it ranks when folks try to find you.
