It’s About the People

On one of my favorite blogs, Chartreuse (BETA), yesterday, Chartreuse who understands people and marketing deeply and intuitively, analyzed Steve Rubel’s case study on TechCrunch, a blog currently ranked #17 of 43.3 million sites indexed at Technorati. In particular, Chartreuse focused in on one bit of advice that Steve gave to those wishing to emulate that success

  • a) identify a high interest topic online that currently does not have a blog tracking it,
  • b) write about it very actively and do it well
  • c) and don’t be afraid to promote it.

Then Chartreuse goes on to explain why all three them aren’t nearly as important as one other thing — the people.

If you are writing exclusively about my industry, I will probably read it.

If you are writing about me, I will definitely read it.

Sometimes Char speaks so simply and clearly folks don’t understand what he’s saying.

Business blogging, business writing, business marketing, business itself is all about the people. Take care of the people in the office and they take care of the work and each other. Take care of the customers and they will want to buy what we offer because it was made for them and they know it.

There’s nothing complicated when a decision arises the question to test is easy.

Will the solution serve our customers and the people who serve our customers? If the answer is yes, where is the issue?
