An online poll released Monday by Bolt Media reveals that almost 80% of teens 16-18 cannot name the four broadcast networks.
The same poll reveal that in the overall audience of 16 to 34 year olds
A vast majority of respondents – 85 percent – said they spend their free time on the Internet, compared to only 69 percent who said they spend their free time watching TV.
TV and TV advertisers are becoming unimportant to the cash spending demographic. They are talking their money elsewhere — not to the malls to the Internet.
In the privacy of their own room, kids can go online and let their hair down. They can try on their wishes and dreams, and they can buy what they need to buy. Social networking has become a virtual reality. It’s easier than being there.
How can we support these customers-to-be and offer them a space that is safe and useful? It’s not just good business. It’s a responsibility. Civilization requires it. This is what Web 2.0, Media 2.0, . . . Life 2.0 is about.
Conversation on the web makes sense to kids who grew up with computers.
