Why Some Companies Won’t Ever Blog

Steven Streight said it again on his blog, Vaspers the Grate, Tuesday May 9, 2006.

Businesses generally have only one thing to say: “Buy my product.”

Businesses generally have only one thing they want to hear: “Love your product, help me buy more.”

Thus, a blog, a candid two-way conversation with customers, is unappealing to most companies.

Those businesses don’t know their customers; don’t want to know them; and even have a fear of them. They think business is about numbers.

Steven Streight is an intelligent, perceptive man.

    Lists, ppl seem to like lists. Blog posts chould be more lists of reasons or aspects.

    The old Command and Control Patriarchal Hierarchic form of corporate management is dying rapidly, disgustingly.

    Those corporations that refuse to become democratic, open, transparent, ethical, consumer champions will die and we shall dance a naughty jig on their rotting graves.

    Thanks for coming!
    You are predicting what I hope is an inevitable future. Command and control seems to get us nowhere. I was speaking this week to a client of a situation that went like this: Meetings were held to discuss the rules for promoting innovation. The company really wanted innovation, but only on their specific terms.

    How innovative of them. :)

    Or enforcing canned sales assaults on every customer, while promoting the business as providing custom services and catering to individual needs.

    Yeah, that was kind of the point. Meetings were held to give the rules when you could innovate . . . RULES

    Humans deserve human contact, not canned conversation.
